SCA Update:
Recent events:
This past week (3.4 to 3.10.18) has been an awesome week for us.
  • Lucy L. and Kelley T. (Novato HS Juniors) broke the silence about generational climate justice at Novato School District in Marin County on Tuesday night.
  • Kai and Kaya spoke at the West Sonoma County Union High School District Board Meeting. At their urging, the Trustees unanimously and enthusiastically passed our 7th and strongest climate action resolution to date.
  • We got an Op-Ed published in a local paper.
  • Jonah G. organized a team of Credo HS students to start logistics for Earth Day Speak Up.
  • Lola, Molley, and I were interviewed on a youth-environmental radio show in Marin County: KWMR
  • Parent Elizabeth Caballero broke the silence on generational climate justice at the Soquel School Board Meeting in Santa Cruz County on Wednesday night.
  • Parents and youth at Twin Hills spoke at open comment period about a climate action resolution.
  • 6 Marin supporters, including 2 youth, met to discuss outreach and action plans in Marin. They will be hosting a youth focussed event on March 25th.
  • We had webinar attended by CCL teams working on school district resolutions in Cincinnati and Colorado.
Upcoming Events:
  • We're starting next week with a bang---we're expecting 45+ people to participate in our Working Summit at the Sebastopol Grange tomorrow.
  • We'll be hosting a training about the Earth Day Speak Up campaign on Thursday 3.15.18 from 5:30 to 6:15 PT. We'll repeat a week later on 3.22.18.
  • A climate action resolution may be considered by a school board in Colorado at the end of March (I don't want to jinx it by revealing too many details, but it would be our first out-of-state resolution and a huge victory. Not to put any pressure on you or anything, CH).
  • Earth Day Speak Up: We're going to launch this effort in Sonoma County at a Working Summit this Sunday. We are going to host a Zoom Meeting training on Thursday, 3.15.18 from 5:30 to 6:15 so that anyone in the country can participate: Earth Day Speak Up Training. We will repeat the training on 3.22.18 in case you cannot attend this week.
